Cookie policy

This website stores nothing on your device. No cookies, no local storage, no fingerprinting, and nothing loaded from any other domain. Here is why there is no consent banner, and how to check the claim yourself.

2. Why there is no consent banner

Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive — the rule that cookie banners exist to satisfy — requires consent before storing information on, or gaining access to information already stored on, a user’s terminal equipment. It is a rule about reading and writing to your device, not specifically about cookies.

This site does neither. Nothing is written to your device beyond the ordinary browser cache for the page itself, and nothing is read from it. The consent requirement is therefore not engaged, and a banner asking you to agree to nothing would be theatre.

We also think consent banners have become a way of extracting agreement rather than offering a choice. The cleaner answer was to remove the collection, which is what we did.

3. What a cookie is, and what else counts

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep and send back on every later request, which lets the site recognise the same browser over time. That is the classic mechanism.

It is not the only one, and a policy that only mentions cookies is incomplete. The same recognition can be achieved with localStorage, sessionStorage and IndexedDB, with pixels and beacons, with cached resources used as identifiers, and with fingerprinting — combining screen size, fonts, time zone, graphics rendering and dozens of other properties into a value distinctive enough to recognise you without storing anything at all. In the EU, most of these are treated the same way as cookies. We use none of them.

4. How to verify this yourself

Please do not take our word for it. This takes under a minute in any desktop browser.

Check for cookies and storage

1. Open your browser’s developer tools: F12, or Ctrl+Shift+I on Windows and Linux, or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac.
2. In Chrome or Edge, open the Application tab. In Firefox, open Storage. In Safari, enable the Develop menu in Settings, then use the Storage tab.
3. Look through Cookies, Local Storage, Session Storage and IndexedDB for pravia.online.
4. Every one of them should be empty. Reload the page and look again — still empty.

Check that nothing is loaded from elsewhere

1. Open the Network tab in developer tools.
2. Reload the page with the tab open.
3. Look at the domain of every request listed. Every single one should be pravia.online. There should be no fonts.googleapis.com, no fonts.gstatic.com, no CDN, no analytics endpoint, no advertising domain.
4. Check the response headers of the document request. There should be no Set-Cookie header.

Check the source

The site is plain HTML, one stylesheet and two small JavaScript files. You can read all of it with “view source”. The scripts are /js/site.js and /js/cta.js — both short enough to read in full. Search them for cookie, localStorage, sessionStorage or indexedDB and you will find no occurrence outside of comments saying we do not use them.

If you do find something we have missed, please tell us at info@pravia.online. It would be a bug, and we would fix it and say so.

5. What our JavaScript actually does

There are exactly two scripts and neither one stores or transmits anything.

• site.js opens and closes the mobile navigation menu and moves keyboard focus when you click an in-page anchor link. That is all it does.
• cta.js does two things to partner links. It copies campaign parameters that were already present in the address you arrived on onto the outgoing link, so that the advertiser can attribute the click. And it re-applies the rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" disclosure attributes, so that the advertising disclosure cannot be weakened by the rewrite. It creates no identifier, reads nothing from your device and sends no request.

The site works perfectly well with JavaScript disabled entirely. The menu becomes a plain list and the links still work.

6. What happens when you follow a partner link

This is the boundary of what we can promise, so it is worth stating plainly.

Links marked “Partner link” take you through a short redirect page on this domain and then to the advertiser or its affiliate network. The redirect page on our side sets no cookie either. But the destination is somebody else’s website, and it will almost certainly set cookies — that is the standard mechanism by which affiliate commission is attributed to a publisher.

From the moment you leave this domain, the destination’s privacy and cookie policy governs, not ours. If you would rather not be tracked by them, do not follow the link; nothing on this site requires you to, and all of our editorial content is available without clicking a single commercial link.

7. Blocking cookies elsewhere

Since we set none, there is nothing here for you to block. For the rest of the web, every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, block third-party cookies specifically, and clear site data on exit. Look under Privacy and Security in your browser’s settings. Blocking cookies will not affect this site in any way, because it does not use them.

8. If this ever changes

If we ever introduced anything that stores or reads information on your device, we would be legally required to obtain your consent before doing so. In that event this page would be rewritten with a full inventory of each item, its provider, purpose, duration and category, and a genuine consent mechanism would appear. As of the date at the top of this page, none of that applies.
